Em's Scrabble Coasters
It proved very difficult to find genuine wooden scrabble tiles in op shops and I'm sure if I had found some they would have been very expensive so I bought a set of 100 tiles from ebay.
I chose to make mine with 4 words that spelt both across and down. This used up a lot of letters easily so was a fun challenge to find enough so it all worked out. I then glued the tiles with PVA glue to 3mm cork. I tried spraying them with gloss enamel, however The enamel seemed to react with the letters and glue already on the tiles. So I ended up coating them in PVA glue, then spraying with enamel to make waterproof. They turned out well. I especially like how they spell words both ways.
I glued squares of magnets to the back of the left over letters to make fridge magnets.

Em's Painted Shoes
I painted these shoes some years ago. I used yellow, blue, red and white fabric paint, mixing colours, and it took almost 3 whole days to finish. I love them. Most people ask why I have two different shoes on but everyone seems impressed when I say I painted them myself.

I have now also painted these skeleton shoes for my boyfriend. Being a radiographer it is very suiting. He wore them to work and got a lot of comments including that he might be getting a bit too much radiation on his feet! Someone from his work wanted a pair for her son, so I've now also made a mini version.

Em's Tie dress
Tie Skirt: I have way too many ties because I just keep seeing cool ones at the op shop and collecting them. I only ever buy ones I love the pattern for, which is usually very retro, 70's and wide. I also have a price limit, if they are too expensive the op shop misses out. I can't afford to buy 5 ties for over $2.50 each! I made a tie skirt using a lot of my Dad's old ties. I cut the back of the tie out so the skirt would be lighter and not as stiff and also made the length of the ties all different to give a flowy feel. I used another tie for the top of the skirt and inserted a zipper and big button to fasten.
My sister had to go one better and make a dress with boning wearing it to the races with matching bow tie headpiece. I had to borrow it myself and also wear it to the races. With the advice from me she left the ties whole and zig-zagged them with the stitching showing, giving it a different, stiffer and textured feel. I love it!

Dance photography
"I love impossible looking situations that allude to the moments before and after the shutter’s click. I want the viewer to wonder, 'Where is he coming from? How will he land?'... I’m always looking for something that is going to confound the viewer. It’s about creating a mystery”
I just love the way they look as though they are floating in impossible positions otherwise unseen! I love all of them, too many to choose from!
