Isaac Brynjegard-Bialik- paper mosaic

Isaac Brynjegard-Bialik cuts up and rearranges paper from different literary and media texts, including comics, collaging them, mosaic style, into new images using strong lines, shapes and colour. I love how the negative space creates clean lines with a mosaic effect.

Beatice Coron- paper cut-outs

In awe of Beatrice Coron's work! She creates magnificently intricate pieces of art by cutting silhouettes from paper in delicate patterns. Such detail! I love the cut outs, and the style in her books. I seem to be drawn to the cut-outs with hot-air-balloons in them and zentangle-like patterns, almost a Jasper Morello style. She uses her technique across other media, such as metal, to create some great public art too, such as benches, murals, fences etc..

Em's Envelopes

Obviously, I love recycling and making things out of other things. Envelopes are one example. You can pick up an envelope template pretty cheap or use an old envelope as a template and, hey-presto, you can turn almost any paper item into an interesting and arty envelope. Magazines, newspapers, maps, junk-mail, comics, calendars, sheet music, old books, painted/marbled paper, scrap booking paper, security envelopes... Beats being plain and boring. 

 

I made some envelopes, using an old envelop as a template, out of an old calendar that had great images. I only wish I had thought of using it earlier in the year before I threw the other months out. I great way to use what would otherwise be rubbish. I need to make a few more because I feel these are too precious to use and keep saving them for something..!
